Duanna Johnson, Transgender Day of Remembrance, and Prop. 8 Rallies
Over the next week, a series of events will take place across Tennessee highlighting the incredible violence and discrimination that members of Tennessees, transgender, lesbian, gay, and bisexual community face everyday.
The funeral of Duanna Johnson in Memphis is scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, November 15. The Tennessee Transgender Political Coalition is helping the family of Duanna Johnson cover funeral expenses. If nothing else, we feel that Duanna deserves a proper funeral and her family deserves peace of mind. If you would like to assist, please make payments to:

Then please join us as we lovingly remember Duanna Johnson's life with a candelight vigil and processional on Sunday, November 16 at 6:00 PM. The processional will begin at the Memphis Gay & Lesbian Community Center (829 S. Cooper) and will end on the steps of the First Congregational Church. Candles will be provided by the church.
Next week, also marks the 10th Annual International Transgender Day Of Remembrance, which commemorates the still unsolved murder of Rita Hester in Boston in November 1998.
Vanderbilt vigil honors Transgender Day of Remembrance Nov. 20

Following the memorial, attendees will march with lighted candles to Vanderbilt's K.C. Potter Center for a celebration of life.
The vigil is sponsored by Vanderbilt's Office of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Instersex (LGBTQI) Life.
